Reading and tools
The site does not add advertising pixels, mailing-list signup, patient intake or user accounts. Search, filtering and the on-page arithmetic tools run in your browser. This site's code does not send the values you enter in those tools to a server or save them in browser storage.
Optional Google Analytics
With your permission, we use Google Analytics 4 to measure page views and understand visits to this publication. Google receives technical and usage information such as the page viewed, browser/device information and a cookie-based visitor identifier. We keep advertising personalization and Google signals off, and enhanced measurement is disabled.
The Google Analytics tag loads only after you choose Allow analytics. Declining keeps it off. You can change your choice using Analytics preferences in the footer. Your choice is stored in this browser using a preference cookie and browser storage for up to 180 days, where the browser allows it. Choosing Decline after allowing stops further collection and removes this site's Analytics cookies. The preference also applies to other open tabs on the same site. Previously collected data is not erased by that choice.
Calculator entries, site-search text and URL query strings/fragments are not included in the events configured by this site. Analytics cookies can recognize a returning browser. See how Google uses information from sites that use its services and Google's Analytics opt-out tool.
Hosting
The website uses Cloudflare-based hosting through Sites. Hosting and network providers may process technical information such as IP addresses, request details and security logs to deliver and protect the site. Their own policies and service arrangements govern that processing.
If you email the publication, the information you send will be handled through the receiving email service to respond to the message. Please do not send patient records, payment information or other sensitive health details. We do not provide medical care through editorial email.
